Can a second or third holder be added to an existing individual account to make it a joint account?
No, once an individual demat and trading account is opened, a second or third holder cannot be added later to make it a joint account.
If you wish to have a joint account, it must be opened as a new joint demat account from the beginning, with all holders' details submitted during the account opening process. A trading account, however, is always in the name of the first holder only.
